The holiday season is upon us and now is the perfect time to show your appreciation for that someone special who also happens to love their coffee. I have a lovely assortment of coffee beans in stock, including several new arrivals that just might fit the bill for you. Check out my store to see my offerings and note that I now have several fun hats for sale.
This is also a time to give thanks. I am grateful for all the support I have received from friends, family and loyal customers, as I continue to pursue the art of coffee roasting. I appreciate the kind notes, the feedback, and repeat orders - Thank you!
In the spirit of giving back, I donate a percentage of income to Grounds for Health , a non-profit organization that funds cervical cancer prevention and treatment for women in coffee growing regions of the world. In 2016, a total of 13,000 women have been reached through the collective effort of the coffee community.
I have also been working with a local nonprofit, RJ's Kids, an apprentice program geared to young adults on Vashon Island for the purpose of providing hands on work experience that aligns with the core values of sustainability, social responsibility and community engagement. One day a week, I work with a young woman named Ayla, who is learning the ropes of roasting and other aspects of the business. She has proven to be a quick learner and shows promise in whatever she eventually pursues. And, it is gratifying to know that you might be having a positive influence on an individual just as I have been the beneficiary over the years of influencers in my own life.
