It's Harvest time!

The time of the year has come for gardens to be winterized, and harvesting of winter crops begins. It is also the beginning of our Holiday season which calls for cozy dark mornings, and blanket wrapped evenings (depending on what part of our country you live in, I suppose). Some of us have even began setting up our Christmas décor (although, I believe that should wait until after Thanksgiving). After such a tough year- or two- I can understand why some may choose to do it early, it makes us feel happy and allows us to start thinking ahead to more positive times, hopefully around family and loved ones.

Do you set up for Holidays early, or do you wait until right before? I like setting after Thanksgiving, because Autumn is so beautiful. The colors are perfect and the weather is my favorite, even if it means rain and dark mornings. I don't want to overshadow Fall, or Thanksgiving for that matter, by bringing Winter inside. With that said, who doesn't love Christmas? I guess that's maybe for another blog post...

So, what's new with us?

November for the roastery brings on our Harvest Blend, which closes out our addition of Dia De Los Muertos (this still can be offered by special request under custom blends). We look for warmth in our Harvest Blend, something to help the cozying under a blanket that I talked about earlier. This blend is a merging of both Central American and Indonesian beans. We taste Bakers Chocolate, Vanilla, Crème Brulee, Baked Apple and maybe even a hint of Cranberry.

For our limited offering blends, we always come up with a special label. This year, as we are slowly changing the names of our blend (you'll see the theme as we bring in the new names on our website), we wanted to bring out the scene of a Mid-Western Autumn, like Robin was used to growing up on her farm in Schaller, IA. We hope you love it as much as we do.

In addition to our Holiday offerings (our Holiday Blend will launch the first of December), we will also we rolling out some other new additions that we are really excited for.

The first of which is already on our website. Unfortunately, it is only being offered to local customers- Vashon residents that we can deliver to, or local customers that can pick it up from the roastery. Our house made Cold Brew is made from our Iroito blend (named after Robins Dad's Champion Bull), our cold brew concentrate is steeped for 24 hours- it has notes of bittersweet chocolate, spice, and dark fruit with moderate acidity and balance- the finish tasting like you just took a bite off of a chocolate bar. The concentrate gives you more bang for your buck, and more flexibility to control your taste preference. Drink it straight over ice for a quick caffeine hit, or pour over ice and cut with water, or your milk of choice.

Since this is made in house, and steeped for 24 hours, please allow at least 24 hours for pick up or delivery- I of course will be sure to keep you up to date on your order.

We will have a mess free, DIY Cold Brew available soon, that way everyone can try it! Keep your eyes peeled for updates. I will be sure to send out another blog when it is ready. Keep us in mind for gift ideas (our wine and coffee gift boxes are available only on our wine website- pollardperse.com. The sampler box has been a huge hit!

And I'll say it again, keep checking back for new offerings!

Thank you all for being so supportive and loyal. Happy Harvest!
