Here we are sequestering together indoors as the wind blows, as the rain dribbles, as the grass dresses in frost and neutral tones. Venturing out results in violent assaults by the drop of acorns from very high boughs. The leaves up there are all down here, but the ones that remain make soft sounds together in the breeze, a loose purr of earth and its majesty. Dry leaves, lifted into air like a color to it. Blush to cheek, leaf to sky. If the wind is a body, are we ghosts who walk right through? Sequester away the hours in an empty theater. Exit into darkness and chill, wonder where all the light went. Shiver all the way home.
